I’ve been a worrier since I was old enough to have conscious thought. Probably, I worried while I was in the womb. I don’t say this with pride – stress is incredibly damaging to our health and overall well-being and you will never catch me saying it’s “just stress” to anyone. I’ve had “how to stop worrying” at the top of my personal development list for years and I have come a long way through working out, meditation and self-care. Continue reading “How to stop worrying”
Pros and cons of having a dog
What are the pros and cons of having a dog? First of all, I don’t believe that you can own a dog. I believe that you bring a dog into your family and that you are responsible to act as that dog’s guardian for his or her entire life.
I can’t imagine my life without a dog, but I’m also not going to pretend that guardianship is all rainbows and butterflies. Like anything else that’s worthwhile in life, there will be challenges and setbacks that you will need to overcome. Continue reading “Pros and cons of having a dog”
Homemade lip balm
Early in my wellness journey, I started making my own personal care and cleaning products. Once I learned about all the toxins in products we slather all over our skin and use to “clean” our homes, I couldn’t continue using them. I’m a chapstick addict, so homemade lip balm was high on my list of priorities. Continue reading “Homemade lip balm”
Healthy breakfast quiche
Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and I shared why in my gluten free coconut flour banana pancake recipe – it stems from nostalgic memories with my dad, who I spent a lot of time with in the kitchen baking up a storm and creating new recipes. We’ve been consistently meal planning this week and healthy breakfast quiche has been getting us from early morning to lunch with ease. Continue reading “Healthy breakfast quiche”
Turkey meatballs over spaghetti squash
One of our easy weeknight dinner staples is turkey meatballs over spaghetti squash. Buster is a vegetable monster and as soon as he knows I’m making spaghetti squash, he won’t leave the kitchen. He always gets the leftovers with his dinner, which makes him the happiest boy on earth. He’s very well behaved, so we had to coax him to “steal” the spaghetti squash from the plate in the picture below. Oh, the things we do for social media #dogcorruption

On my journey to become healthier and fitter (check out the recipes from my kitchen and workouts from my living room), creating healthy alternatives for my old favourites was one of the keys to my success. Easy ways to save money
Have you ever wondered about easy ways to save money? I’m a “saver” by nature and I’ve respected the value of money since I was a kid (thanks, Dad!). After I bought my first house in my early twenties and owned three before 30, people started asking me for financial tips.
How to overcome failure
I’ve written about strategies to reach a goal, but what happens if you have a setback or outright failure on your journey? Spoiler alert: you probably will because life rarely (if ever) goes perfectly to plan. So, today I’m sharing my best tips for how to overcome failure and ensure you aren’t derailed for good.
Healthy slow cooker cabbage rolls
Cabbage rolls are a new favurite in my household because I love that you have a complete meal all wrapped up in leafy green goodness. My husband is Ukrainian and it’s a bit sacrilege that I’ve only recently learned to make healthy slow cooker cabbage rolls that you can set and forget (my favorite way to cook)! Better late than never, right?
Before you check out the recipe, head over to Instagram to see what I have in store for you next week! I’ve been slammed with conference prep the last two weeks, but I’ll be back in business next week with brand new content. Continue reading “Healthy slow cooker cabbage rolls”
Get your vitamin D
Vitamin D is important to overall health and immunity, including brain function, and many of us are not getting enough. If you live in a climate with dark winters and you don’t take a supplement, chances are you’re deficient in this critical mineral. Most people practice safe sun nowadays, which of course is important to preventing skin cancer, but it also doesn’t help us get vitamin D naturally. Continue reading “Get your vitamin D”
