My ultimate buddha bowl recipe is here to make your meal prep easier. The dark, gloomy winter months make everything seem like more work, so I’m always looking for easy solutions. I blame my flagging energy partly on the lack of natural vitamin D, which gives many people the holiday blues. While it can be tempting to hide under the covers, I’m staying enrolled in the 5 am club and remaining focused on my goals even though I’d rather sleep!
Chocolate peanut butter banana smoothie bowl
I love peanut butter (check out my recipes for protein cookies, pancakes, oatmeal protein balls, chocolate chip protein balls, and even dog treats for proof). I also love bananas (check out my easy 2 ingredient cookies and healthy bakery style donuts for further evidence). I’m combining my love affairs in a chocolate peanut butter banana smoothie bowl that is part of my healthy January detox. Chocolate as part of a detox? Yes, please. Deprivation doesn’t work, friends, and dark chocolate is good for you! Continue reading “Chocolate peanut butter banana smoothie bowl”
Thai quinoa salad
For a delicious meatless Monday option, try my easy and simple Thai quinoa salad that is vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, dairy free and soy free (the same as these donuts, which were my most popular recipe of 2017).
I like to make this salad and then eat it for lunch all week because I don’t mind eating the same healthy thing for days on end (goes well with my natural inclination towards kitchen laziness and hatred of dishes). Continue reading “Thai quinoa salad”
Easy, moist, grillable black bean burgers

While I love Mexican food, I wanted to try a different flavour combination for my first attempt at easy, moist, grillable black bean burgers and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Banana cookies with only 2 ingredients
Trying to lose weight is not fun. Imagine you could eat a delicious banana cookie and stay on track! Depriving myself of everything I love doesn’t work for the long term and can lead to a binge of all things brownie. In the maintenance phase, the 80/20 rule works well (80 percent healthy food for fuel and 20 percent food for comfort) and in the losing weight phase, I raise that number to 90/10 or even 95/5 (sorry). Continue reading “Banana cookies with only 2 ingredients”
Easy cucumber salad
The first day of summer isn’t until June 21 this year, but it already feels like it’s in full swing in Toronto (not that I’m complaining!). It’s officially patio season and that means it’s the perfect time to start making my easy cucumber summer salad. Continue reading “Easy cucumber salad”
Protein-packed peanut butter chocolate chip cookies
There’s nothing better than your house smelling like freshly baked cookies (okay, maybe there are a few things. I’m a romance author after all). Finding healthier cookie recipes like my protein-packed peanut butter chocolate chip cookies that also taste amazing can be challenging. Many recipes containing refined sugar proclaim to be good for you, but it isn’t at the top of my health-conscious ingredient list.
