We’ve all met the green eyed monster at some point in our lives and when the beast rears it’s ugly head, it can make you feel anxious and inadequate. In an extremely competitive industry like authoring romance novels, it is helpful to learn how to deal with jealousy so it doesn’t affect your path to success (but these lessons can apply to essentially anyone).
Easy ways to save money
Have you ever wondered about easy ways to save money? I’m a “saver” by nature and I’ve respected the value of money since I was a kid (thanks, Dad!). After I bought my first house in my early twenties and owned three before 30, people started asking me for financial tips.
Life lessons from your dog
Dogs are great teachers and you can learn life lessons from your dog if you’re paying attention. Buster the boxer is my brand mascot (here is a gratuitous puppy picture…okay, there’s also this one and this one). We’ve spent years diligently training him, which is why he can be pictured on Instagram with food he doesn’t eat to promote my recipes (the pictures of him with my protein cookies are adorable). Buster is also my personal mascot and below I share life lessons you can learn from your dog! Continue reading “Life lessons from your dog”
How to keep memories alive
Memories can be triggered at any time and if you’ve recently lost someone, you may want to know how to keep memories alive. After losing my dad, sometimes a song on the radio makes tears fill my eyes, and other times, I’ll see or smell something and a previously forgotten memory will pop into my head. These “new” memories are like gifts, and four years after my dad has been gone, sometimes they even make me smile instead of cry (though not very often).
Strategies to reach a goal
It’s critical to have strategies to reach a goal to keep you on track. When you’re trying to reach a goal (or considering getting started on one), it can be challenging to get yourself in a positive frame of mind. It’s easy to get bogged down in regrets about what you should have done differently, that you should have started sooner, how long it’s going to take, or how hard it’s going to be. I have gone through all of those excuses (and more) in my journey towards self-improvement. It’s easier and a lot more comfortable to stay the same, but remember that doing nothing is also a choice and a risk. Continue reading “Strategies to reach a goal”
12 friends every woman needs (and 3 to ditch)
You can’t get everything you need from one friend. For example, there’s the friend who you can count on to pick up your kid from daycare if you’re in a pinch and the friend who you can always count on for a martini (just don’t mix them up). I’ve complied a list of 12 friends every woman needs and three to ditch immediately below! Continue reading “12 friends every woman needs (and 3 to ditch)”
Buster’s indestructible dog toys
Buster has destroyed countless so-called indestructible dog toys. He’ll be turning 6 next week, so I’m pleased to say we have finally found several companies making high quality indestructible dog toys that last years. Buster still has one bone from puppyhood, so that’s saying something (and believe me, he’s tried to kill it). Continue reading “Buster’s indestructible dog toys”
Cheap and fun ideas for date night
When you first start dating, everything is exciting, new, and slightly uncertain. You are still figuring out if you are going to mesh as a couple for the long term, and the best way to do that is by sharing memorable experiences together (read: lots of date nights). It’s easy because everything you try together is a “first” and you are still in the honeymoon phase. Continue reading “Cheap and fun ideas for date night”
Benefits of meditation and how to start
Have you ever wondered how to meditate and why you should? What are the benefits of meditation? I have heard people say, “it’s just stress” countless times. In fact, I used to be one of those people. I would take physical ailments seriously, but stress? What was the big deal? Continue reading “Benefits of meditation and how to start”
Safe and effective homemade toothpaste recipe
As a contemporary romance novelist, I know all about the importance of a first kiss. Below you can see a snippet from the novel I’m querying, Sweet Redemption, featuring Brooklyn and Trevor‘s first kiss. In honour of locking lips and getting up close and personal, I’m also sharing my safe and effective homemade toothpaste recipe. Continue reading “Safe and effective homemade toothpaste recipe”
