It can tempting to put things off until tomorrow (or some other arbitrary date in the future that will probably never happen) when you have x, y or z. You’ll take more pictures with your family when you lose weight, you’ll write your book when inspiration strikes, you’ll eat better when you have more time, you’ll go on a date with your spouse when your kids grow up…The list of excuses is endless and my best advice is: don’t wait to start. For further reinforcement, you can read my past Motivation Monday post entitled “start now” (are you noticing a theme here?).
Motivation Monday: start now
My first Motivation Monday feature went live on Instagram today asking the question, why not start now? Are you following me and my hashtag #authoropwrites? Head on over and click that button, friends. I’ll be going live soon with some BIG NEWS and I don’t want you to miss it. Subscribers will also get a love note from me in their box before anyone else finds out.
How to beat the holiday blues
The holiday season can be a magical time filled with experiences that create lasting memories. However, it can also be a time filled with unnecessary stress due to the number of demands on our time, loneliness, and the gloomy weather (depending on where you reside). Holiday cookie baking tips
T’is the season of sugar, spice and everything nice…like cookies! Every December, I give cookie tins to everyone at James’ company. He works for a small family business, but that is still between 9 and 15 trades guys with at least a dozen cookies each. That’s a lot of cookies, so I have learned some holiday cookie baking tips over the years. Continue reading “Holiday cookie baking tips”
Homemade lip balm
Early in my wellness journey, I started making my own personal care and cleaning products. Once I learned about all the toxins in products we slather all over our skin and use to “clean” our homes, I couldn’t continue using them. I’m a chapstick addict, so homemade lip balm was high on my list of priorities. Continue reading “Homemade lip balm”
Healthy breakfast quiche
Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and I shared why in my gluten free coconut flour banana pancake recipe – it stems from nostalgic memories with my dad, who I spent a lot of time with in the kitchen baking up a storm and creating new recipes. We’ve been consistently meal planning this week and healthy breakfast quiche has been getting us from early morning to lunch with ease. Continue reading “Healthy breakfast quiche”
How to deal with jealousy
We’ve all met the green eyed monster at some point in our lives and when the beast rears it’s ugly head, it can make you feel anxious and inadequate. In an extremely competitive industry like authoring romance novels, it is helpful to learn how to deal with jealousy so it doesn’t affect your path to success (but these lessons can apply to essentially anyone).
Easy ways to save money
Have you ever wondered about easy ways to save money? I’m a “saver” by nature and I’ve respected the value of money since I was a kid (thanks, Dad!). After I bought my first house in my early twenties and owned three before 30, people started asking me for financial tips.
Life lessons from your dog
Dogs are great teachers and you can learn life lessons from your dog if you’re paying attention. Buster the boxer is my brand mascot (here is a gratuitous puppy picture…okay, there’s also this one and this one). We’ve spent years diligently training him, which is why he can be pictured on Instagram with food he doesn’t eat to promote my recipes (the pictures of him with my protein cookies are adorable). Buster is also my personal mascot and below I share life lessons you can learn from your dog! Continue reading “Life lessons from your dog”
Books that have made me a better writer
Today I’m sharing books that have made me a better writer as I work towards publishing my first novel, Sweet Redemption. The best authors are readers themselves and not only consume the books in their genre, but also books that improve their own narratives. I’ve been writing in the corporate world for nearly a decade (still not sure how that happened – time flies!) and even though I consider myself an experienced writer, I’m constantly learning and humbled by those who are ahead of me on their journeys.
