It’s so easy to heat up soup from a can, especially if you or someone in your household is under the weather. However, there is nothing like homemade hearty chicken and rice soup (plus there’s a lot less sodium). If you make a big batch and freeze it in portions (meal prep 101), then it’s basically the same thing as reaching for a can. In my recipe down below, I give you my secret to great tasting soup that won’t disappoint! Continue reading “Hearty chicken and rice soup”
How to stop worrying
I’ve been a worrier since I was old enough to have conscious thought. Probably, I worried while I was in the womb. I don’t say this with pride – stress is incredibly damaging to our health and overall well-being and you will never catch me saying it’s “just stress” to anyone. I’ve had “how to stop worrying” at the top of my personal development list for years and I have come a long way through working out, meditation and self-care. Continue reading “How to stop worrying”
Homemade lip balm
Early in my wellness journey, I started making my own personal care and cleaning products. Once I learned about all the toxins in products we slather all over our skin and use to “clean” our homes, I couldn’t continue using them. I’m a chapstick addict, so homemade lip balm was high on my list of priorities. Continue reading “Homemade lip balm”
Healthy breakfast quiche
Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and I shared why in my gluten free coconut flour banana pancake recipe – it stems from nostalgic memories with my dad, who I spent a lot of time with in the kitchen baking up a storm and creating new recipes. We’ve been consistently meal planning this week and healthy breakfast quiche has been getting us from early morning to lunch with ease. Continue reading “Healthy breakfast quiche”

How to get skunk smell off your dog – guaranteed
If your dog has ever been sprayed by a skunk, you know first hand how god awful the smell is and you’ve likely frantically googled “how to get skunk smell off your dog” and come up with a series of old wives’ tales that simply don’t work. Buster has been skunked three times in his six years and the most recent was last night when we arrived home from vacation. The best part? I was also skunked and I used the same formula to get the skunk smell off Buster for myself. Don’t waste your time with tomato juice that will only stain your dog’s fur – my recipe is guaranteed to get the skunk smell off your dog. Continue reading “How to get skunk smell off your dog – guaranteed”
Strategies to reach a goal
It’s critical to have strategies to reach a goal to keep you on track. When you’re trying to reach a goal (or considering getting started on one), it can be challenging to get yourself in a positive frame of mind. It’s easy to get bogged down in regrets about what you should have done differently, that you should have started sooner, how long it’s going to take, or how hard it’s going to be. I have gone through all of those excuses (and more) in my journey towards self-improvement. It’s easier and a lot more comfortable to stay the same, but remember that doing nothing is also a choice and a risk. Continue reading “Strategies to reach a goal”
