I’m so excited to share that James and I are expecting our first child in August. Health and fitness are important to me, so I searched high and low for the best pregnancy workouts. If you aren’t expecting, my suggestions also work for non-pregnant folks. Of course, you need to talk to your doctor before starting any exercise program, but the advice for my specific situation was to continue whatever I was doing before for as long as possible.
Green detox smoothie
Many of us overindulged over the holiday season and perhaps skipped some of our workouts. Three months after Christmas and perhaps you’re still trying to implement healthy habits to shed the weight you gained. I’ve been drinking this green detox smoothie on repeat since January. It tastes like a pina colada and I hope you love it as much as I do! Continue reading “Green detox smoothie”

Healthy breakfast quiche
Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and I shared why in my gluten free coconut flour banana pancake recipe – it stems from nostalgic memories with my dad, who I spent a lot of time with in the kitchen baking up a storm and creating new recipes. We’ve been consistently meal planning this week and healthy breakfast quiche has been getting us from early morning to lunch with ease.    Continue reading “Healthy breakfast quiche”
How to overcome failure
I’ve written about strategies to reach a goal, but what happens if you have a setback or outright failure on your journey? Spoiler alert: you probably will because life rarely (if ever) goes perfectly to plan. So, today I’m sharing my best tips for how to overcome failure and ensure you aren’t derailed for good.
Lightened up cheeseburger casserole
We don’t eat a lot of red meat in our household, but one of our favourite, easy dishes is my lightened up cheeseburger casserole. We just spent 10 days at the cottage and one of our favourite rituals is ending the day together on the boat watching the sunset (check out our view here and here with lots of bonus pictures and stories on Instagram). Evenings are already starting to get chilly and the sun is setting half an hour earlier than it did in July, so it was time to break out a grill alternative and start making my lightened up cheeseburger casserole again! Oatmeal chocolate chip cookie protein balls
Adding high quality protein powder to baked goods is one of my favourite ways to make healthy, wholesome and filling treats. I’ve already shared recipes for no bake chocolate chip cookie protein balls and protein packed peanut butter chocolate chip cookies and I’m excited to bring you a recipe for oatmeal chocolate chip cookie protein balls today. Are you noticing I love cookies and protein balls, especially when combined? Continue reading “Oatmeal chocolate chip cookie protein balls”
Banana cookies with only 2 ingredients
Trying to lose weight is not fun. Imagine you could eat a delicious banana cookie and stay on track! Depriving myself of everything I love doesn’t work for the long term and can lead to a binge of all things brownie. In the maintenance phase, the 80/20 rule works well (80 percent healthy food for fuel and 20 percent food for comfort) and in the losing weight phase, I raise that number to 90/10 or even 95/5 (sorry). This strawberry protein shake tastes exactly like an old fashioned diner milkshake and gives me a warm, nostalgic feeling (without the sugar rush). It’s a perfect refreshing treat during the summer and now that I’ve created it, I’m addicted to it! Continue reading “Strawberry protein shake (that tastes like a diner milkshake!)”
